STEPS TO INSERT A TEXTBOX IN GOOGLE DOCS

Two simple ways are there to insert a textbox in Google Docs. Through both the ways, you  can add text within a document that is set apart from the other text. Their formatting and layout capabilities are quite distinct from one another. Let us now check the methods on how to insert a textbox in Google Docs.





Step-1 

Over text appearance, if you want easy manipulation and control, then usage of the Drawing Tool can be the best way to insert a textbox in Google docs. It’s an easy procedure and only asks you to insert a drawing from your Google Drive in your document in order to place the text within the drawing. A person can easily create, edit and format the shapes of the textbox in their document. 

  1. You have to open a particular document in Google Docs.

  2. Then, on the top left bar, click on  Insert. 

  3. On the drop down menu, select drawing and then create a textbox by clicking on New.

  4. Click on the Text box icon and inside a square box, it can be identified by the letter “T” 

  5. Create the text box and then release the mouse when the required size is reached by clicking and dragging in the drawing area.

  6. Now you can add text and customize in the textbox based on your liking. 

  7. When you are finished typing, click on the Save & Close button.

Step-2

You can also use shapes, to insert a textbox in Google Docs and this will help you in adjusting both the textbox and the text inside it with different shapes and colors.

  1. Click on insert, on the menu bar.

  2. On the drop down menu, select drawing and then click on New Shapes on the toolbar. 

  3. With various shapes, a drop down menu will appear– Shapes, Lines, Arrows, Callouts and Equation Symbols. Select a particular shape which you want to use.

  4. In the drawing area, click and drag your mouse according to the size you want your shape to be, and then release the mouse. 

  5. Within the shape, double-click anywhere and then enter your required text.

  6. After the completion, click on Save & Close to insert it into the document. 

  7. By clicking and dragging the resizing handle to the size you want, you can also resize the shape.

  8. For editing the shape, select the shape and then click Edit from the options that appear. You can customize the shape, by clicking the desired formatting command like color, adding an image etc. 

  9. You can delete a shape as well by pressing the Delete or Backspace key on your keyboard.

Conclusion

There are a variety of shapes and sizes in which a text box can come which can be easily customized as per your needs. When you think of making your work more elaborate, it does have plenty of uses. But, it may not be that common to add a textbox in Google Docs. Hence, it has easy steps involved and you can actually make it useful for yourself.
