Everything You Should Know About Feminism

The term "Feminism" is not uncommon in casual conversations in the news or everyday life. This word is one of the most misused and misunderstood words ever. What feminism is exactly? Does it mean women are placed over men?

Feminism is the concept that everyone, regardless of gender, is equal. Feminism inspires women to receive equal treatment for men and women. There are no men degrading or declared inferior to them. It is not based on women having power over men but on women having power over themselves. It is a matter of fact.

It is a complicated issue to discuss because the intentions sometimes don't matter in this argument. The last words, the last act. Other feminists are often called out for misinterpretation and misrepresentation of spoken word by feminists. For instance, each day there are men working towards feminism. They would be the first to recognize that they need not be recognised or appreciated for their niceness, because promoting equality is not so much favour for anybody, as it is a worthy principle.

But the question is where do we as a society stand. If we still have to celebrate our men's warriors in gender deprived, or are ready to move to a new order, where the good men are the expected norm, not the exception. The aura around it is still confused, but the world needs someone to just remind the men that it takes much introspection and a conscious collective effort to make it possible for women to have their rooms without thinking of them as a privilege or a favor. But, are they sufficient? Perhaps someday, when enough is available, even language will catch up and give us gender-independent pronouns!

Feminism has become a frequently hated social movement. When you hear "feminist" you can imagine the furious so-called feminazi, a person who uses feminist ideals to mask men's dislike. While there are people like this, most feminists struggle for both the rights of men and women. Many feminist pages are all-inclusive and intersectional, while primarily focusing on women's problems, they also recognize the issues that men face, trying to create online spaces for everyone. This, for me, is the real objective of feminism: to fight for equal rights requires addressing the problems of everyone.

Some may still regard feminism as a threat, believing that it poses a threat to conservative values, traditional gender standards or men's rights.

But real feminism—and progress—does not have to be a transition. People can stick to their long-standing convictions while respecting new ones. With those with short hair, women can have long hair without feeling uncomfortable. Men can wear skirts or pants on a given day, depending on how they dress. Men can still make money in the family, but women can play the role without disgrace. These existing norms must not be changed, as space is expanded, unless harmful or severely outdated. We just have to extend what we consider normal and tolerate our differences not only but also celebrate them.
